Solidarity Requests: Terms and Guidelines

Please read the terms below before filling out a request.

Our Mandate and Priorities

The People's Potato accepts solidarity requests to prepare food, snacks, or beverages for events that fall within our mandate of social and environmental justice.

  • What we support: Grassroots events dealing directly with social/environmental justice and community-based initiatives.
  • Who we prioritize: Groups that do not have access to funds to pay for food.
  • Who we do not support: We do not work with groups affiliated with a political party or those who receive corporate funding.
  • Religious/Spiritual Groups: While we are a secular organization, we welcome requests from religious and spiritual groups whose social justice work aligns with our values and mandate.

Kitchen Space Status: In the past, we lent out our kitchen space to groups cooking for free events. Lending our kitchen space is currently on hold due to a lack of resources to maintain the program. We are working on bringing this back soon.

What to Expect (We Are Not a Catering Company)

Because we are a community initiative and not a commercial catering company, please note the following limitations:

  • We do not provide chafing dishes or other hot holding equipment.
  • We cannot stay at your event to serve the food.

If your event does not fall within our mandate, we suggest looking into [this list of alternative caterers] (compiled by Midnight Kitchen).
